{An Emmetsburg High Senior Session with Horses}

I think we may have accidentally started a new tradition around here…two seniors, two horse sessions, two absolutely dreamy golden hour evenings!! And after photographing Ocean with Sparky and Cowboy, I’m officially convinced I need more seniors to bring their horses to their sessions!!

Ocean is an Emmetsburg High School senior and part of TEAM 27, which means I’ve gotten the fun of spending a little extra time getting to know her throughout this senior year. She’s a little more on the quiet side, but she has the sweetest, kindest spirit, and once you get to know her, her personality really shines through. Her session was a pretty perfect reflection of the things she loves most…being outside, spending time with her horses, and soaking up every bit of summer.

We started out at the nature center, wandering through the tall grassy meadows and flower fields before making our way to the river. And that’s where things got really good! Ocean brought Sparky, her rodeo horse, along with Cowboy, and we let them do what they do best…hang out, explore, and enjoy the evening together. Watching Ocean with her horses was one of my favorite parts of the entire session. You could see how comfortable she was around them, and it made the photos feel so natural. Then the sun started dropping and the light turned golden. The horses were standing in the shallow water and Ocean was glowing! I don’t think I could have dreamed up a prettier ending if I tried! These river images are easily some of my favorites from the entire summer!! 😍

Outside of riding horses and going to rodeos, Ocean loves fishing, hunting, camping, boating, swimming, and spending time with the people she loves. She’s also involved in FFA and plans to attend college after graduation to pursue radiology and become a radiology technician.

Ocean, thank you for trusting me to capture this season of your life. I’ve loved getting to know you through TEAM 27, and I’m so excited to see where this next chapter takes you. I hope these images always remind you of this amazing season…the horses, the summer evenings, the rodeos, and all the things that make you happiest!
