{A Recap of Our September}
September was a little quieter than the summer months, but honestly, I think we needed it after the whirlwind that was July and August! My photos from the month pretty much tell the story of one very full Labor Day weekend in Clear Lake…and I’m perfectly okay with that!
We spent the entire weekend with Joe’s cousin, our college besties, Joe and Lisa, and their little ones. Since they live on the other side of the state, we don’t get to see them as often as we’d like, so having an entire weekend together felt like such a special treat! The kids basically lived in the lake or on the beach. They’d come out long enough to eat something, sleep, and then somehow find their way right back into the water. To say we had a blast would be a serious understatement! There was plenty of swimming, playing, boating, beach time, and all the usual kid chaos that happens when you put a bunch of cousins and best friends together for an entire weekend.
I love watching our kids grow up alongside the children of people who have been such an important part of our own lives. Joe and Lisa aren’t just family…they’re some of our favorite people and friends we’ve had since college. Getting to spend uninterrupted time together and watch all of our littles play is something I am always incredibly grateful for. And now I miss them already.
The middle of September looked quite a bit different. There was a LOT of work happening around here and, of course, plenty of rain. Because apparently Iowa decided we needed all the moisture at the end of the season, HAHA! But we did manage to squeeze in another cousin breakfast before the month came to a close and harvest began. And that’s really what September ended up being about for us…less about big adventures and more about the people.
Until next month…
