{Revisiting My Favorite Family Portraits of the Year}

As I close out my Best of 2025 series, I’m ending on a high note with family portraits. This year, I had the privilege of serving some truly incredible families, each one bringing their own energy and story into my frame. Family sessions are rarely quiet or still, and that’s exactly what makes them so meaningful.

I continue to be drawn to images that feel lived in rather than posed. I’m always watching for the in-between moments…the way a parent instinctively reaches for their child, the laughter that erupts when things don’t go as planned, the beauty that shows up right in the middle of the chaos. These sessions aren’t about perfection. They’re about connection.

Throughout 2025, I watched families play, laugh, snuggle, and embrace the beautifully imperfect nature of this season of life. Kids ran ahead, parents followed close behind, and somewhere in between we created images that feel honest and full of heart. The kind you look back on and remember not just how everyone looked…but how it felt to be there together.

These photographs are proof that chaos can be beautiful. That joy doesn’t need to be curated. And that the most meaningful memories are often made when we let go and allow the moment to unfold naturally.

As I reflect on this year, it’s also what’s been shaping a new direction in my work…Storytelling Sessions. These sessions lean even further into what I love most: families simply being themselves in the places that matter most to them. Whether that’s slow mornings at home, backyard adventures, or the everyday rhythms that make up your life, my heart is to continue creating images that feel lived in, honest, and deeply personal. The kind of photographs that don’t just document a season…but help you remember how it felt to live it.
