{An Iowa Farm Engagement Session}
There are some moments in this job that really make you pause and realize how quickly life moves. I very vividly remember photographing Jade’s senior session just a short, four years ago and now, she’s getting married! And here we are, celebrating such a beautiful new season of her life alongside Dawson!
Their engagement session took place on Dawson’s family farm, which made the evening feel even more meaningful knowing they’ll also be getting married there this August. There’s something so special about documenting a love story in a place that already holds so much history and significance. Wide open fields and the quiet rhythm of farm life made it all felt so authentically them.
The evening itself kept us on our toes a bit. We had a quick round of rain, and even a little hail, move through during the session, but thankfully it passed just as quickly as it came. Once the storm clouds rolled by, we headed back out and finished the evening with Dawson’s cattle herd before the bigger storms moved in across the sky. And honestly, those dramatic skies paired with the softness between these two created some of my favorite images of the night!
Jade and Dawson are such a quiet, gentle couple, but their connection speaks without needing many words. The way they look at each other says everything. There’s such a deep steadiness and care between them that you can feel almost immediately when you’re around them.
Sessions like this always remind me why I love what I do so much—not just because of the beautiful places or perfect light, but because I get to witness people in seasons that matter deeply to them. Jade and Dawson, thank you for inviting me into this part of your story. It’s such an honor to continue documenting these milestones for you, and I truly cannot wait to celebrate the two of you again this August!
