{An Iowa Pasture Spring Family Session}
The McCullough family traded Baby Connor’s cake smash shoot for a full family session and I am not mad about it! Another family who knows how to win a photographer’s heart through fantastic wardrobe choices! Haha! I just adore this little entourage and I love watching this family grow! This was my first session of the year in our pasture with full green foliage and it happened to be yet another windy day. But thankfully there is a little pocket below the hill of our house that is surrounded by trees where the wind isn’t terrible.
Sometimes, even though your photographer isn’t in the photo, there can be tons evidence of them in the making of it (stiff poses and frozen grins) and it reveals to the audience that this particular moment was staged. When I make photographs, my goal is always to take myself out of the equation. I want to draw you into the real moments and affection shared between family members. I love a gap-toothed, oversized grin or a strand of hair blowing in the wind. I love, LOVE all the parts of you that are natural and beg not to be contained. How you truly interact with your children and your husband is what I long to capture in your photographs. Emotions, love, life–they are not perfect but they’re incredibly beautiful. They echo within your homes walls every day and deserve to be fully represented in your photographs as well.
