{An Iowa Country Church Wedding}
Teri and Dalton’s wedding day was the perfect way to kick off summer wedding season! These two are some of the most laid-back people you’ll ever meet, and that calm, genuine spirit carried through every part of their wedding day. Some wedding days are beautiful because of the details, the venue, or the weather. And while Teri and Dalton’s day certainly had all of those things, what made their wedding unforgettable was something much deeper…the genuine love and admiration they have for one another, and their sweet little boy, Warren.
The day began in one of the most meaningful places possible…the home Teri and Dalton share together. They spent the morning getting ready on separate floors, soaking in the excitement of the day while surrounded by their closest family and friends. There was something so special about knowing they were under the same roof, preparing for the beginning of their next chapter together.
Before the ceremony, we headed to a sentimental grove of pine trees that was right outside their backdoor. There, we orchestrated one of the sweetest moments of the day…a First Look between Teri and Warren. Watching Warren’s sweet little smile as he ran to give Teri a small sprig of flowers was enough to melt everyone’s hearts.
Of course, the pine grove also served as the setting for Teri and Dalton’s First Look. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint! Dalton’s reaction to seeing Teri was one for the books! His immediate response included a few words that probably aren’t blog appropriate, but they perfectly communicated what everyone else was thinking…Teri looked absolutely STUNNING!!! The joy and love on Dalton’s face said everything that needed to be said.
The two were married at the charming Ramsey Reformed Church, surrounded by family and friends who were eager to celebrate them. It was the sweetest ceremony and a beautiful reflection of who they are as a couple…simple and full of love. Once they were officially husband and wife, everyone gathered at the Wesley Community Center to celebrate and dance the night away.
One of my favorite parts of the day was simply witnessing how much these two care for each other. Their love isn’t flashy or performative, it shows up in the way they look at one another, the way they support each other, and the way they move through life as a team. That connection is woven throughout every image from their wedding day and tells the story of who they are far better than words ever could.
This wedding was especially meaningful for me because I had the honor of photographing Dalton’s sister’s wedding two years ago. Seeing the Berte family again felt like reconnecting with old friends. They are some of the kindest, most welcoming, and most fun people I’ve had the privilege of working with, and it has been such an honor to continue documenting their family’s story.
Teri and Dalton, thank you for trusting me with such an important day! Your wedding was beautiful, but even more beautiful is the life you’ve built together and the future that lies ahead. It was such a joy to celebrate with you, and I’m so grateful to have been a small part of your story!
