{A Recap of Our February, March, & April}
It’s been a minute since I have done a family recap blog post, so today I’m catching up on several months all at once! February, March, and April were a little slower around here, but looking back, they were still full in all the ways that matter most.
Like many other families this time of year, we spent a good chunk of late winter battling sickness after sickness. It felt like someone in our house was always coughing, recovering, or just trying to make it through the week. Me included, as I spent 3 weeks with influenza and pneumonia. Thankfully, we’re finally on the healthier side of things now, and I don’t think any of us take that for granted after a season like this.
February kicked off with the father/daughter dance, and naturally, the girls absolutely had to have matching dresses for the occasion. Watching them get ready and seeing how excited they were made the whole evening feel extra special. We also squeezed in one of our favorite traditions…cousin breakfast, of course. At this point, it just wouldn’t feel like a month in our family without one!
Spring break in March brought a much-needed change of scenery with a little trip to Sioux City to spend time with cousins. There was far too much hotel pool time, lots of laughter, and an endless amount of cousin chaos that always makes for the best memories. We lucked out with beautiful weather while we were there, so we also managed to sneak in some park time and soak up a little sunshine after a long winter indoors.
Then came April, and with it, all the Easter festivities. Egg dying, egg hunts, candy overload…all the things the kiddos look forward to every year. But the biggest and most meaningful part of the month was watching Eden and Oren receive their First Communion. Such a special milestone for both of them and such a beautiful day for our family. Of course, I couldn’t resist doing a formal photoshoot with them all dressed up. One of those moments as both a mom and photographer that I know I’ll treasure forever. We gifted them personally engraved bibles and included them in the shoot as well.
Somewhere in between all the celebrations and busy spring schedules, we also found time for another cousin breakfast and even practiced making homemade bread for Eden’s pioneer project. I’m not a baker in any way, so the practice was necessary, and, honestly, it didn’t turn out too bad!
These months may not have been packed with huge adventures or nonstop excitement, but they were full of moments I never want to forget — family traditions, meaningful milestones, slower days at home, and just simply being together.
Until next month…
