{A Simple, White Studio Engagement Session}
Emily and Derrick’s engagement session was simple, meaningful, and so them…which honestly made it such a joy to photograph!
We started in my all-white studio, keeping things clean and timeless and letting their connection take center stage. With nothing else competing for attention, their personalities really came through…easy smiles, genuine laughter, and the kind of comfort you can’t fake. These are the sessions that always remind me that sometimes less really is more.
But the best part? We ended the session with Dairy Queen Blizzards. Ice cream is one of Emily and Derrick’s favorite things, and of course it’s the dessert of choice for their summer wedding. So, naturally, it had to make an appearance during their engagement photos. It was playful, personal, and the perfect way to wrap up their time together.
Their story began at a carnival, where Emily’s sister (who happens to work at the same hospital as Derrick) introduced the two. About a year and a half later, Derrick proposed during a walk by Emily’s family pond, followed by a surprise engagement party that made the moment even sweeter. Talk about husband material, it’s obvious Derrick put a lot of thought and intention into how he was going to propose. Every part of their story is full of heart.
This summer, Emily and Derrick will be getting married at The Stables at Cooper Ridge in Denison, a venue that’s new to me and one I’m really looking forward to photographing for the first time…especially with a couple like these two!
Emily and Derrick, thank you for trusting me to capture this season of your lives. The connection you two share is playful, effortless, and genuine, I can only imagine your wedding day will be just the same. I can’t wait to celebrate you both again very soon!
