{Revisiting My Favorite Engagement Portraits of the Year}

Engagement season is in full swing, meaning statistics show most engagements happen between now and Valentine’s day, so what better way to celebrate then revisiting my favorite engagement portraits of 2024! Last week I shared “Best of 2024 Weddings” and this week we are going to dive into a couple more! My love for emotion and beautiful backgrounds, foregrounds and composition are still in the forefront of what I try to capture and, honestly, what gets me so excited about an image. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing some incredible couples this year, some of which have already gotten married in the same year! Engagement sessions took me to Des Moines and northeastern Iowa for travel, and I know I have said this a thousand times, but I absolutely love photographing in new locations! I know for some photographers, new locations are scary because of the unknown and unfamiliar. But, I LOVE new locations, a change of scenery, if you will, and the unexpected! I think that comes with experience and knowing how to find good light no matter where I go.

The fall season continues to be a favorite among couples for engagements and weddings, both, and I don’t blame them! This year we lucked out with incredibly beautiful fall weather. As I look through these images, I’m in amazement! I don’t think I could have asked for a more beautiful year of portraits. These shoots were so much fun and I cherished my time with each couple!!
