{A Polk County Courthouse Wedding}
Chris and Lisa met many years ago at a blind double date that Lisa’s friend had setup, unknowingly to Lisa. At the time, Lisa had no interest in dating but her friend arranged for a large group of friends to come together with one of the new friends in the group being Chris. Lisa’s friend wanted to introduce the two. At the last minute, her friend told Lisa the group date was canceled and it would just be Lisa’s friend, her date, Lisa and Chris. Needless to say, the rest was history! And 12 years later, with their two beautiful children and Lisa’s sisters as witnesses, they wed at the Polk County Courthouse in Des Moines!
This was my first time photographing a courthouse wedding and I absolutely loved it! After 12 years of living life, it was plain to see that these two are still so very much in love! The joy on their faces as they vowed to spend the rest of eternity together shows just how much happiness this family shares. And sweet little Lena was in tears because she was so happy to see her mommy and daddy get married! Afterwards, we celebrated at the Iowa Taproom with tequila and wings.
It is such a gift to be able to photograph love at different life stages. Honestly, it’s sometimes the most fulfilling part of my job. To see how Lisa and Chris look at each other and watching Lisa’s joyous smile all day, truly fills my heart with a happiness for them I can’t describe. Photographing love is a gift I will never take for granted. Lisa, Chris–thank you for taking me along on this very special day and giving me a small peek into the beautiful life you have created together. I pray the rest of your years are filled with the same happiness you experienced on this very day! I hope you enjoy all my favorites from your day!
