{Fall Engagement Session in Northeast Iowa}
Oh how time flies by! It feels like yesterday when I met Haley for the first time as she tried out for the Twin River Valley Drill Team. It was 2010 and, believe it or not, I was the head coach! I only coached for one year before the high school closed permanently, but Haley was the sweetest and most talented freshman. As short as our time was together, it also feels like a lifetime ago. We kept in touch over social media and a few years later, Haley contacted me for senior portraits. At that time, my business was in the baby stages with my doors officially open for only 1 year. Since I knew Haley well, I took the opportunity to take a few risks with her session. Bringing my vintage couch out to a grass field, putting a chair in the middle of a lake and photographing her in basically a pile of junk, these were just a few of the ideas I had! Haha! Oh how my style has changed over the years! And now, she is engaged and about to be married to the love of her life, and I am beyond thrilled to be the one capturing it!
Haley met Brandon at a mutual friend’s wedding and have been inseparable ever since! During their engagement session, we walked along the Cedar River at Osage Spring Park, taking in the beautiful foliage. Next, we stumbled upon a 200 year old cemetery trying to find our second location, a secluded public hunting ground with the most gorgeous fall colors. And last, we finished up at Brandon and Haley’s home surrounded by corn fields. Their sweet pup, Hank, was able to join in the fun for a bit as we finished watching the sunset over the sloping horizon of a freshly harvested corn field. It was such a beautiful evening with these two!
It’s an honor to be invited into this new season of Haley’s life! I loved getting to know Brandon more during our time together and I cannot WAIT to photograph these two on their wedding day next summer! Haley, you’re going to be the most gorgeous bride!!
