{A Rustic, Countryside Wedding in Knoxville, IA}
“When you know, you know,” Megan told me at her and Matt’s engagement session earlier this summer as she described the short 6 months her and Matt had been dating before he proposed. The way Matt looks at her you can tell they are hopelessly in love! They’ve gotten to know each other so well in those handful of months and the fun they have together is unmatched. They are truly soulmates and best friends. It was such an honor to witness and photograph their love!
Their wedding was another gorgeous day (we’ve gotten lucky with weather lately) filled with many unique and special touches. Megan carried a vintage, floral handkerchief and a buckeye as a way to commemorate her grandparents who couldn’t be there. After they shared a First Look, Megan and Matt chose to read their handwritten vows to one another privately. At this point is when the tears started overflowing and continued throughout day. There is something so special witnessing the joy, love and pure emotion that not only Megan and Matt have for each other, but also their family members share for the both of them. During the ceremony, a ring warming ritual was replace by the typical lighting of the unity candle. Megan and Matt’s wedding rings were passed through the entire wedding party, as well as parents and grandparents, with each person praying and giving well wishes over them. And if that wasn’t enough emotion, the toasts brought out even more tears as Megan’s sister delivered such a heartwarming speech. To top the night off, Matt had chosen to do a special dance with Megan’s sister the Maid of Honor. This is when MY tears started flowing!
Megan and Matt, I hope you are enjoying these first few days as “husband and wife!” Thank you so much for inviting me to Knoxville to capture the two of you committing yourselves to one another. I couldn’t be happier for you both!!! I adore your family and friends and loved getting to know them. Enjoy scrolling and reliving your day through my eyes!
