{A Classic, Coral and Navy Wedding in Northern Iowa}
Leslie and Joe are the sweetest couple. You can just feel it when you’re with them! You can see it when you watch them interact. You can hear it in the stories that their family members and best friends shared about them. They are truly soulmates and best friends. They have an undeniable love for one another and they made the job of photographing them SO easy!
These two had the perfect, classic wedding day with pops of navy and coral. It was very important to them to honor their grandparents who could not be there in person on this special day. A table dedicated to their parents and grandparents featuring their wedding portraits was beautifully displayed when entering the church. My favorite part is how Leslie and Joe will always carry a piece of Joe’s grandmother with them. Quite literally, as Leslie’s diamond is the very diamond from Joe’s grandma’s wedding ring. The gold from her band was used to create Joe’s wedding band and it is such a unique and beautiful gold color. I can’t think of a better way to carry a family legacy. Leslie also wore her grandmother’s ring as her “something borrowed.” As we headed into portraits, we ventured out to Leslie’s grandparent’s farm which further carried the traditions of their loved ones. We circled back out to the farm again for sunset portraits. Their portraits will have such a deeper meaning to them at this special location.
Another unique aspect that Leslie and Joe chose for their day is to have Leslie’s brothers stand up on her side and Joe’s sisters on his. It was a first for me to photograph brides-men and grooms-women and I had a blast doing it! Such an incredibly sweet and helpful crew! Leslie and Joe sure have a lot of special people in their lives!
If you remember from Joe and Leslie’s engagement session, the two spent most of the their relationship long distance. Joe would send a postcard to Leslie EVERY SINGLE DAY! They displayed some of their postcards at the reception and asked guest to fill out a postcard of their own to send to the couple. What a unique way of giving their guests a little peak into their relationship!
Leslie and Joe, I hope you’re enjoying your first few days as husband and wife! Thank you for entrusting me with one of the most important days of your lives! I hope you enjoy scrolling through your day through my eyes!
