{Golden Hour Senior Session at Lost Island Nature Center}
Rachel had SO MANY fun ideas for her senior images but we couldn’t fit it all into one single session. So we opted for two full sessions and I’m so glad we did because she was able to get everything that she wanted! Her second session started out at Emmetsburg High School auditorium where we focused on her amazing piano talent! Then it was off to Lost Island Nature Center for the rest of the session. I’ve only photographed at the park one other time before and it was for an engagement session. During that session, we never made it passed the trees because they were just so gorgeous. So I was in complete shock to find there was a huge, beautiful beach just around the corner beyond the trees!!! This is where I created my favorite images of the entire session! For a split second I felt like I was on a tropical beach in the Atlantic instead of Iowa. 😂 And the sunset that evening was icing on the cake!
If you’ve ever been to Lost Island Nature Center, then you know there is a long entrance lane surrounded with canopy trees along the entire road. It’s beautiful! And as you leave the park you will see a “Speed Bumps Ahead” sign. Rachel’s step-mom mentioned how this sign was a good metaphor for life, especially just starting out after high school graduation. So I took a quick shot of it because she couldn’t be more right! Rachel–I promise there will be bumps in life. It’s inevitable. But these “bumps” are important because they teach us to slow down, take one day at a time and enjoy the journey along the our own paths. I pray the road you take will contain very little bumps as possible. 😊
