{A Recap of Behounek Family Adventures September 2020}
Welp….I kinda failed last month when it came to my goal of photographing our everyday lives. Honestly, we didn’t really have much going on.
Then half-way through the month, I tested positive for Covid.
That basically put the rest of our month to a halt. It kinda came out of nowhere. I wasn’t expecting it, although I probably should have, right?!?! It’s pretty prevalent in our community. I guess what I should say is that I wasn’t exposed to anyone that I knew had the virus. I’ve had a lot of people ask me where I picked it up from but honestly, I could spend days racking my brain trying to figure out where it came from. In the end it doesn’t matter. Viruses spread quickly and easily….and mysteriously. Fortunately, I had VERY mild symptoms, light head cold for about 3 days. And even better, none of our children experienced any symptoms, Joe tested negative and no one that I came in contact with beforehand had experienced any symptoms. Apparently, I am not very good at shedding the virus HAHA! All jokes aside though, I am sooooo glad that was the case! I felt so good while I was experiencing symptoms that, had it been any other year previous to 2020 and not in our current pandemic situation, I would have just gone to work and continued my normal activities. Obviously, I stayed home for 10 days and rescheduled all of my sessions but, again, so thankful I had such a mild case. What I thought was extremely interesting though, is that we had found many testing sites, businesses, and other entities all have their own guidelines for who and when a person can get tested, and when a person can return to normal activities. But guidelines are just that, only guidelines. They are not hard, fast rules. I am not here to give you my opinion on the situation so make of it what you will.
Here is a breakdown of my symptoms, if you’re interested:
Day 1: Developed a slight scratch in my throat. I thought this was allergies since it’s not totally uncommon for me.
Day 2: Started to develop a slight sore throat.
Day 3: Woke up with a mild fever that lasted for about 4-5 hours but sore throat was gone. I honestly didn’t feel like I had a fever, just felt a little warm. Given our current pandemic, I decided to check my temperature. Had it been any other year before 2020, I probably wouldn’t have thought to check my temp. I still felt good.
Day 4: Slight groggy head cold feeling.
Day 5: Felt great! Back to feeling normal.
Some fun things that happened at the beginning of the month: Joe hooked up a heater to our pool so we were able to use it a few more times before it needed to come down for winter. Woohoo!! We did some canning and I photographed Liella helping me out in the garden. I LOVE how her hair blows in the breeze! I usually can a lot of homemade spaghetti sauce and tomato sauce but since there has been a huge shortage of lids in the world (thanks Covid), I didn’t do as much as I normally do. Which is ok too, because it’s time consuming HAHA! Pumpkins randomly started growing in our garden (I never planted them) which was weird but really fun! The kids loved it! Also, I’m not a pumpkin connoisseur or anything but these pumpkins were a little different. They started out white and then turned a light orange and also grew little ornamental pumpkins on the same plant (images below)! Strange, but again, the kids loved this!!
And that’s a wrap on September! A seemingly simple month turned a little Covid crazy!!
