{Recognition for Features in Publications}
Yesterday I received an email from Two Bright Lights stating I was a winner for the Two Bright Lights Editors’ Choice Award 2020 for my work in the wedding photography industry! Two Bright Lights is a platform that connects tens of thousands of photographers and vendors with publishers around the world to aid in their work being featured with top print magazines, blogs and websites. This specific award is a signature program that recognizes photographers and vendors whose number of published features in 2019 ranks them among the top 1% of all Two Bright Lights members. Editors’ Choice winners were published across many of the most respected lifestyle, wedding and other print and digital publications in the United States and worldwide.
Something to be proud of right? Well…I’ll be honest…I was completely apprehensive at first! Is this real? Am I really being recognized as the top 1% of ALL Two Bright Lights members? I just can’t believe it because there are TENS OF THOUSANDS of photographers within this platform! Sure, I had been featured more than a handful of times last year and some with top publications, but how is little ol’ me in the top 1%??? I don’t shoot lavish, high-end weddings or even book a whole calendar full of weddings! Half of my features weren’t even weddings, so how in the world is this possible?!?! Obviously, I’m still working on that self-confidence! 😉 Then, I took a minute to think about it further…actually it was more like a couple hours haha! And I realized that this…is a WIN! No matter how big or small I think it may be, it’s still a win and I should certainly celebrate this! I should celebrate the fact that I actually HAD been published several times and EVEN with big publications like The Bump! I should most certainly celebrate this!!!
I know part of my apprehensiveness is because I have bigger goals and dreams for CB Studio. One being featured with top wedding publications like The Knot, Green Wedding Shoes, Ruffled, Style Me Pretty. Knowing I haven’t quite reached these goals makes this win seem unrealistic in a way, I suppose. But I’m trying to remember that I need to celebrate these wins because they are small steps to my bigger goals. And if I don’t celebrate them, who will? How can I keep myself motivated to move forward if I don’t celebrate? I’m INCREDIBLY thankful to have my work seen and featured 6 times last year! Knowing people around the country are loving my work and wanting to share it more is such a great compliment and something I am extremely proud of! This is something that I will always keep in a special place in my heart.
Honestly, I owe it all to my clients! I have some of the best clients around that allow me to be creative and do crazy things for epic portraits. I’m thrilled knowing these features have given me the opportunity to showcase the hard work and talent of my clients and industry peers. I’m really blessed to have them in my life and thankful they trust me on one of the most important days or milestones in their life.
